How the systems actually work

Sub-slab depressurization (basements and slab homes)

Radon moves through soil and gets pulled into your house by the slight vacuum your home naturally creates, the stack effect. A sub-slab system reverses that pressure relationship. We core a small hole through the slab, excavate a suction pit beneath it, and run PVC piping to a continuously running fan mounted outside or in unconditioned space. The fan holds the soil under your slab at lower pressure than your house, so radon gets pulled out and exhausted safely above the roofline instead of drifting up into your living space. Boise's North End, the Bench, and other basement-heavy neighborhoods are classic candidates for this system.

Sub-membrane depressurization (crawl spaces)

Crawl spaces are the Treasure Valley's most common radon entry path, open soil under the house, connected straight to your living space by the stack effect. The fix is a heavy-duty membrane sealed across the entire crawl space floor and up the foundation walls, with suction piping underneath it. The fan draws radon from under the membrane before it can enter the house. Combined systems

A lot of valley homes are part basement, part crawl space, especially split-levels and older homes with additions. Those need both approaches tied into one fan and one exhaust run.
